More ailing pets

Still working out of boxes. All somewhat loosing it novelty value now. Went into Norwich and bought two sofas. Very exciting.

Got home to discover mising cat. No 'Bush' yelling for her food. On reflection realise she didn't show up for breakfast either. Wandered about garden calling her. Visited neighbours to check sheds. No luck. Then she appeared, subdued and slow. Not interested in food (unheard of in all her 12 years) so I suspect we're off to the vet tomorrow morning. Still, I can pay for Alf's antibiotics at the same time, joy of joys.

Still at the Greenwood

Still there. Many, many boxes. Horror of horror... no diary. Went through boxes endlessly. Went home. Went back. Went through boxes again. And again. Phoned all schools to admit shameful loss and to beg dates off of them. Found diary. Went home in disgust.

Last Day of Freedom

So, that was it. The last day of the summer holidays. Back to the grindstone tomorrow. But what will be happening, I do not know. Due to the postponement of the move, everything is in boxes. Perhaps the 9 0'clock meeting will enlighten us, but I suspect not.

What did I do with my last day? Worried a bit more about Alf, the dog (above) who was really looking sorry for himself again... rang the vet and went and got some more antibiotics, and I'm pleased to say he is more perky now and has eaten some chicken and rice along with all his other tablets, so fingers crossed. Apart from that I meandered around the garden, tweaking and chopping things. I now have a full wheelbarrow and a big heap of stuff on the path (right in the way) that all needs to be moved to the compost heap. Why don't I do this at the time? I then thought it would be a good idea to mow the lawn for the second time since putting in the new blade, but half way round, said new blade encountered a big metal wirey thing and now projects at a 90 degree angle. In other words, it's buggered. Joy of joys.

The 1st of September - Summer is Over

Mmmm.. Blog created . Now, what to write?

I have spent most of the day gardening. I have finished lashing down the exuberant growth of the roses on the drive. American Pillar, I think they are. Amazing cerise pink, single blooms that cover the entire fence, but were seriously getting out of control. My hand are now lacerated and punctured and somewhat sore.

I have also picked my puffball. Every year one grows somewhere in the garden. I am going to give this one to Peter (aka Bonfire Man) as a thank you for mending my lawn mower. The puffball is a wonderful thing: about 8 inches in diameter, with a gentle, musty, mushroomy smell.

That's it. Enough for one day.
